Jess Miller, a local comedian and founder of OMG Comedy Shows and FunnyRaising Comedy, has organized her 5th annual Toy Drive for Foster Children in Western Mass. This year she has made it BIGGER and BETTER. She is running the toy drive for the entire month of December. She has secured a venue and worked tirelessly, day and night, spending her own money to have a place to host this toy drive.
Jess, herself, has come from her own share of struggles. These experiences have not hardened her one bit. Instead, she has become a generous person with the biggest heart. Jess does not hesitate to step up and help others. She has produced several comedy show to benefit local community organizations and individuals in Western Mass.
Over the past few months, Jess has been getting the venue up and running. The City of Springfield has been excited to have her opening this club and have been working to support her throughout this process. She has been faced with a number of obstacles and roadblocks along the way- from plumbing issues, to leaks, to permits, to heating issues, to licensing, just to name a few. Despite this, she has never given up. She has persevered through each barrier with the tenacity and determination that exemplifies Jess Miller.
Only FOUR days before opening, Jess was informed that she has to have two police officers at each show every night. This will cost about $18,000. Jess has already spent every penny, called in her favors and put her heart and soul into this project. She is physically and emotionally exhausted trying to get the venue ready for the shows. All of this to benefit CHILDREN.
So this leads me to my plea... WE need to lift her up when she is feeling the most defeated. WE need to help her make this dream come true. WE need to help her help others. WE need to carry her to the finish line!!! Please donate what you can and share this cause so that all of this becomes a reality.
