“At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel." - Mayo Angelou
This quote was so befitting for the purpose of this letter. Words can’t describe the positive influence he has produced in the short period of time as an educator to encourage young minds . It is hard to find Black males in the classroom who work with such a passion to inspire kids.
He has instilled in his students the importance of education, which made them want to learn. Instilling in them that they “Got this and that they are Great” which helped his students boost their morale, confidence, and grades.
Romaro has not only inspired his students to do well academically, but to be better young men and women. His kindnesses and eagerness to help others is truly admirable. He has been a positive role model in the lives of theses young people. - Curtis Robinson (colleague)
Unfortunately, as of 11/27/2017, I have not been able to return to Western Hills Elementary because my probationary teacher license expired through the Texas Teachers alternative program I enrolled in to get the license. As of this date, the good news is that I have already taken and passed both the State of Texas Special Education (EC-12) and the General Education (EC-6) license exams but now #TexasTeachers is requiring full-payment upfront instead of the automatic month to month payment to pay his program fees.
In order for me to return to the classroom, I need to pay Texas Teachers 1765.00 so that he can have his probationary license extended until I can meet all the requirements of the state and program. Once the fee is paid, I can get my license status back active and back in the classroom!!!!! It hurt my heart to know that I would not be returning to the school because of this. The kids are going to hurt because again, someone they gained trust with has left them like many other people in their lives. I cried, it hurt.
Most of you know those kids changed me and I must get back in the classroom. Many of you have helped me with rewards for the kids to keep them motivated in the classroom! Thank you!
Dr. Martin Luther King once said “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education."
Please help me get back! If you can't, share it with someone who also has a love for children! I need to continue in the path that was made for me!
