Spink Comhaltas building Musicians for the Future

We are the voluntary committee of Spink Comhaltas. Our mission is to promote traditional Irish music, song, dance and culture. We do this primarily through encouraging young musicians to learn and perform traditional Irish music, and our musicians range in age from 7 up to 18, at which point they continue their own journey in music.

In 2023 we celebrate 40 years in existence.

We are celebrating this milestone to recognise and acknowledge all of the volunteers to have contributed to Spink Comhaltas over the years.

In addition to our normal activities we are running additional events this year.

We have already run a Music Festival in March 2023 where we delivered Master Music Classes for young Musicians.

Our next event is to host the Laois Fleadh in June in Abbeyleix, which will be a major event. This will be followed by a series of summer musician sessions to give young musicians the opportunities to perform and we will also be organising other events in the second half of the year for young musicians. We are also compiling a history of Spink Comhaltas and having a formal event to acknowledge the contribution of many volunteers over the last 40 years as well as celebrating the achievements of many fine musicians developed over this time.

All of this requires funding, and Spink Comhaltas is reliant on funding from our friends, supporters and the wider community.
