Danny è il meraviglioso cane di cui mi sono innamorata 4 anni fa quando lo vidi per la prima volta al canile di Sangano (TO). Da quel giorno siamo come fratello e sorella, compagni inseparabili di tante camminate in montagna e di innumerevoli momenti di coccole.
Come lui mi è stato vicino nel condividere gioie e dolori, adesso spetta a me mostrargli che non è da solo anche nella malattia. Dopo una lunga serie di esami specialistici, gli è stato diagnosticato un carcinoma al polmone destro con altre due masse che si stanno formando intorno ai bronchi del sinistro. Questi tumori causano una pleurite cronica, per questo i suoi polmoni devono essere periodicamente drenati per eliminare il versamento pleurico e permettergli di respirare meglio.
A causa della posizione dei suoi tumori, Danny non è operabile. Dovrà quindi intraprendere un percorso di chemioterapia che eviterà l'ingrossamento dei tumori già presenti e il proliferarsi di metastasi. Nonostante i dolori causati dalla malattia, Danny, che ora ha 8 anni, rimane allegro ed energico, continuando a donarci gioia e amore con la stessa vitalità di un cucciolo. La chemioterapia potrebbe donargli ancora qualche anno insieme alle persone che gli hanno permesso di uscire da quella stretta gabbia del canile e verso cui mostra un profondo amore e gratitudine.
Le spese per gli esami veterinari e per il trattamento stanno diventando insostenibili e mi stanno facendo ulteriormente preoccupare perché senza aiuto non potrò permettermi di pagare le cure che gli salveranno la vita.
Mi rivolgo dunque a chiunque ami gli animali, perché so di poter contare sull'empatia che ci lega nell'amore verso i nostri compagni di vita e perché so che c'è sempre la possibilità di trovare una mano tesa verso il benessere di queste creature che ci regalano così tanto amore. Ora è giusto che questo amore gli torni indietro e per farlo è necessario continuare a curarlo. Anche un piccolo contributo può fare la differenza e allontanare l'incubo di dover sospendere le cure.
Danny is the wonderful dog I fell in love with 4 years ago when I saw him for the first time at the kennel in Sangano (TO). Since that day we have been like brother and sister, inseparable companions of many walks in the mountains and of countless moments of pampering.
In the same way as he showed me the beautiful path of sharing both joy and sorrow, now it is up to me to show him that he is not alone in his illness. After a long series of specialist tests, he was finally diagnosed with cancer predominantly in the right lung and with two other masses forming around the left bronchi. These tumours cause chronic pleurisy, so his lungs need to be drained periodically to allow him to breathe better. Due to the location of the tumours, Danny’s condition is inoperable. He urgently requires a course of chemotherapy that will stop the growth of the tumors already present and any further spread of the disease.
Despite the considerable pain and discomfort, Danny, now 8 years old, remains cheerful and energetic. As is his way, he continues to give us the same joy and love we have received since we rescued him from the shelter. Chemotherapy could give him a few more years together with the people who allowed him to get out of that narrow cage of the kennel and towards whom he shows a deep love and gratitude.
The costs of veterinary examinations and treatment are becoming unsustainable and are further worrying me because without help I will not be able to afford the treatment that will save his life. I therefore turn to anyone who loves animals, because I know I can count on the empathy that binds us in love towards our life companions and because I know that there is always the possibility of finding an outstretched hand towards the well-being of these beautiful animals. Even a small contribution can make a difference and remove the nightmare of having to stop treatment.
