Spencer's Road to Recovery

There is no other way to do this but shoot straight from the heart. There is a family in our tribe that could use our assitance. Our dear friend Robin, took her son Spencer to the ER on Feb. 14 for what was thought to be appendicitis. He was experiencing pain in his abdomen. The doctors preformed an ultrasound, followed by a cat scan only to find the issue was not Spencer's appendix. It was far worse, they discovered a mass in his abdomen. Spencer was  the transferred by ambulance to Detroit Children's Hospital , where the ER doctors suspicions came true. After more blood work, an MRI, CAT scan, a biopsy of the mass, PET scan, And bilateral bone marow aspiration and biopsy the results were any parents worse nightmare. Spencer was diagnosed with a rare aggressive childhood type cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, ARMS for short.
   Spencer will have to undergo vigorous treatment that consists of four different types of chemo over the course of 40+ weeks, radiation, and removal of the mass. As we all know too well, this type of of situation is not only emotionally draining but also finacially.
   Spencer is a caring, loyal, hilarious, and a determined 13 year old who loves cars. There is no doubt that he has what it takes to get through this, it is just a really long hard road. Since treatment will be so intense he will not be able to attend school. Spencer's mom Robin is a stay at home mother of three; which is a true blessing in all of this. His dad Justin has been an employee at Ford Motor Co. for 18 years. He is currently on medical leave for 6 weeks, which means he will only recieve a percentage of his monthly income. This is where we can make a difference. We all really just want Robin and Justin to be able to focus on their family at this time and not have to worry about the financial strain that this situation can bring about. Any amount of donations count and is extremeley appreciated. All donations will go towards unexpected medical bills, gas money to get back and forth to Detroit weekly, and small household bills.
