Speech Therapy for Paisley

Every parent wants what is best for their child. Speaking from experience, there isn't a more helpless existence than being a parent with a child who has a problem you can't fix on your own.
As many of you already know our little miracle, Ms. Paisley has a significant speech delay. My super intelligent, exceptionally strong willed, almost three year old has no expressive language of her own. Not even simple words like mama or dada. We have been lucky enough to be a part of Early Steps since the beginning of this year and she receives speech therapy once a week. Unfortunately, when she turns 3 we will be losing Early Steps and having to transition into the school system. With a cautious and unsure idea of what the school system can and is willing to provide for us we have seen a new therapist to start getting more therapy. The only problem is, Alex's insurance will not cover this therapy claiming that speech is an "enhancement" to life and not a necessity. (Give me a break!!!) There are scholarships and grants we are in the process of applying for but there is no guarantee that we will be accepted and no idea how long the process may take.
Paisley has tentatively been diagnosed with Apraxia of speech. This is an oral motor speech disorder. In children it's the inability to utilize motor planning to perform movements necessary for speech during a child's language learning process. (Thanks Wikipedia!)
The only way to help? Therapy. So, for the time being, before grants and scholarships and schools catch up with us we have to pay out of pocket for our therapy sessions. Each session is $92.00.
As someone who has a hard time asking for help I am reaching out to you in my time of need. I'm the voice for my child who doesn't have a voice of her own asking you for any help that you can give. Instead of toys and gifts for her birthday and Christmas we would really appreciate the gift that will matter the most. This will no doubt be a long journey for Paisley but the sooner we start the better. Thank you all for your love and support.
