STHS Speech & Debate

Hello to everyone reading this! Thank you for viewing our page! The Sheridan Technical High School Speech and Debate team is a small but mighty team of talented and hard-working speech and debate members who is in need of outside funding to continue attending tournaments. They’d like to raise enough money to attend their first out of state tournament at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve had the privilege to attend tournaments as a chaperone and judge for these students, and I can say with pride that they are well-deserving of your time and donations. As “underdogs”, they’re regularly required to compete against schools who have unlimited resources; our students juggle school, work, and weekend tournaments and continue to show up and show out! Their latest feat was a clean sweep at the Falcon Invitational tournament where every team member placed 3rd or higher! Some of the accomplishments our members have achieved: - Lorena Manasturean: 1st place in Original Oratory at the South Florida Catholic Forensic League tournament - Leeona Lyons & Herdyne Joseph: 1st place in Duo Interpretation at Flying L tournament - Newtonia Britton: 1st place in Dramatic Interpretation at the Falcon Invitational Tournament - Jose Mendez: 2nd in Congressional debate - Leyana Petitisse: Quarter-Finalist in Original Oratory at Bluekey in Gainesville - Juliette Lee & Jayla Little: 2nd place in Duo Interpretation at Falcon Invitational - Juliette Lee: 2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation at Falcon Invitational - Jean Ettiene: 2nd place in Informative Speaking at Falcon Invitational - Sinai Braverman: 3rd place in Dramatic Interpretation at Falcon Invitational.
