South Coast Bush Fire Relief & Recovery Service

Donation protected
The recent fires on the South East coast of NSW have devastated our communities from Batemans Bay to Wallaga Lake and even further.

In Mogo alone approximately 20 homes were lost and we need your help to firstly clean up and then rebuild the homes that we have lost.

On behalf of the community I want to thank all the people who have responded with donations ranging from water, food, clothing, toys, generators and other necessities. It has helped enormously to relieve the suffering.

The worst of the fires has now passed and we can look at the recovery stage.

I envisaged the money raised by this campaign would be used to pay for clean up and rebuilding homes that were lost, hence the target of $1.000.000, that would build at least 4/5 homes. So far we have only managed to raise around $4000 and may reach $5000? That wont build the homes needed!

So I have become a member of the recently formed South Coast Bush Fires Aboriginal Services Reference Group. This group is chaired by the NSWALC Councilor for our region, Danny Chapman. Other members are, but not limited to Katungul A.M.S., SEARMS, Murra Mia, Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council, Grand Pacific Health, Uniting, NIAA, DAA, and basically all the groups needed to achieve a coordinated response to this disaster.

Together we will identify need and available resources. The money raised by this campaign will be allocated to areas/individuals/groups that are unable to receive funding support from other sources as identified by the above group.

I will continue to post updates and who receives support from this bucket of money as it is allocated and again thank you for your generosity and support.

Regards
Bunja Smith
