South Africa Conference

Hello Facebook friends and family! As many of you know, I am a junior and I attend Plymouth State University for social work! Social work is something I am very passionate about and I can’t wait to start my career! I have been offered an amazing opportunity to present research related to social group work at a conference in South Africa with the International Association of Social Work with groups! Dr. Lind, one of my favorite professors at Plymouth State, will be taking 20 students in June of 2018 to South Africa for 14 days! During this conference I will be talking with graduate students, professional social workers and people from all over the world about issues related to social and group work. Plymouth State is the only university that is attending this conference with undergraduate students! This gives me a huge upper hand into the real life of social work, presenting with a group and acting professionally. I have never had the opportunity to travel out of the United States so this is all new to me! The reason I created this page is because not only is this an amazing opportunity that will better help my education and career but it’s just expensive. Recently, I tore my Achilles and haven’t been able to work because of it. Once I am fully recovered I will be returning to work also trying to save money for this trip while taking care of the other responsibilities that come with being a college student… The total for the trip right now is around $2,500. I need all of my family and friends help to make this possible for me! I know money is tight for everyone these days but it would really mean the world & anything helps!
