Soulmate Steve's Medical Bills

Donation protected

After a routine physical in August, Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized prostate cancer.  It has spread throughout his spine and is inoperable. This is not what we expected. Anyone who knows Steve knows he is a private man, so I am sorry if this is how you are finding out my soulmate has cancer. The picture you see below is his bone scan.  The black area is where the cancer has spread to bones in his spine and femur.  Many people believe prostate cancer is not a big deal, and it’s easily treated, which is true in many cases.  This is not the case for Steve, as it has progressed too far.  I’m sorry for those who didn’t know how severe the diagnosis actually was, as we have been struggling to come to terms with it ourselves.

We have lived in Lake Havasu for over 27 years, so you may know us through many different organizations and activities.  Asking for help is difficult and humbling.

Steve loves music and has played in a band for years including the following: Eye Killed Kenny, Mister Pounds, Hellcat Seven, or Little Stevie and the Bastards.  Instead of sharing a beer with him during a performance, please show your support here.   You may know Steve through work, and know he is so energetic he’s earned the nickname ‘Squirrel.’

If you are a friend of our son Stone, you may know that Steve coached soccer for several seasons. You may know Steve and Stone from riding dirt bikes with or raced with them.

If you are a friend of our daughter Ivy, you may know us from cheer or Girl Scouts.

As for myself, we may have crossed paths with the cookies or cakes I bake, or in the classroom, as I have taught in Lake Havasu for 24 years.

Steve and I started dating when I was 18, we have been together more than 30 years. He is my SOULMATE, and I want to show him people do have a heart and people do care for others. It is difficult for either one of us to ask for help.  We appreciate any support to help our family get through this ordeal.

We do have insurance, but we have a $5000 deductible and $90 specialist co-pay.  That is where it gets to be costly. The first $5000 was spent in just four months after diagnosis.  Our deductible has now been reset after the New Year.

This is very hard for me to do – ask for money.  I started this gofundme webpage about a month ago, but didn’t realize I had published it until funds started coming through.  I had intended to edit it further.  I am now adding more explanation to the site.

In advance, I thank all our friends and family for your support.
