SOS! Sweet Family Loses All in Fire

Donation protected
A couple with their two small children and grandma moved out to LA and rent a house (but haven't obtained renter's insurance). Yesterday, after a day of celebration for their little son's birthday, they lost everything when an electric fire burned their house.  They are not asking for handouts but I insisted they allow me to help by starting this GoFundMe for them.  This breaks my heart. They are good, hardworking people and had their life go from great to horrible in one afternoon. If you can contribute even just a little, please consider doing so.  Little bits add up to enough to cover bills and items needed to just get by.  They clearly need to just take care of their family and get through this until they get back on their feet.

For perspective, here is part of the post from the page of the mom, Jessica:  "Today was the best day ever that ended with the most traumatic event that has ever happened to me. I woke this morning to celebrate Judd’s party. He had the best time! We all did! We came home all relaxed. Around 6pm, Joey and I went to pick up pizza. As we drove back down our road, my heart sank because I saw orange flames coming from a house, a house close to mine; only to realize it was my house. My mom, mother-in-law and children were standing in the yard and our house was completely on fire. I just started screaming. Praying. Fell to my knees praying for God to make it stop. Begging everyone to call 911 in hopes the fire truck would somehow get there sooner. What felt like hours was minutes, and I watched the roof just grow and spread in flames. It was horrific. The firemen arrived and immediately starting working. I’m so thankful to those brave men. I’m so thankful for the Hammond PD officer that ran to his own house to get clothing of his daughter for my daughter. The firemen who tried to save pictures for me. Thankful for our landlords that came right away and got us a hotel room to have a place to go. I just have so many words of gratitude and grief, but no idea how to say them. I just never thought this would be my reality. I am so thankful my family wasn't hurt. They are safe. This could've been so much worse. It still hurts that all of our belongings are under tarps, ruined by heat and smoke and in a soot-filled house. Please just pray for us. We all need it, but just say a little extra one for my babies. I know we will get through this."

I'm touched by this family's gratitude, as well as the fire dept that responded, but I can't imagine finding my family in this spot in a couple of hours' time.  There are so many things we can't fix and this is one, but we can do something--even little--for most. Thank you for your time to read this.  Feel free to share!
