SOS NADIM in Beirut

Our dear friend and colleague Nadim and his family have been affected by the devastating explosion that has destroyed large parts of Beirut. The explosion on 4 August 2020 is considered to be among the biggest non-nuclear explosions in history.
Nadim and his family live within a kilometer of the epicenter of the blast.
We have set up this emergency GoFundMe page to raise money for Nadim and his family.
Shortly after the incident Nadim wrote to us about the impact of the explosion:
“The whole apartment has exploded; including doors, windows, closets and each and every glass in the house had been shattered into pieces all over. The shock however, will be taking months if not years for us to recover from.
As for my brother and his wife, they were even closer to the port (where the explosion took place), and therefore could have not escaped the injuries, but we are so very grateful that they are alive. We all are!
My brother has his face severely injured and full of stitches, and his wife has had surgeries done ... She has been in the intensive care unit since the night of the explosion and is expected to be released by next week to a normal room at the hospital. Their apartment and their business suffered the same devastating effects like our apartment.
But I find it ridiculous to talk about infrastructure, when health always comes first and that as long as we are all alive, nothing else matters."
We stand in solidarity with our dear colleague Nadim and his family so that they do not face the challenges ahead alone. Insurance policies are not likely to cover the costs they will face.
“Disasters teach us humility”. But they also teach us the true meaning of solidarity and resilience. We call upon you to help us help Nadim and his family get back on their feet.
“As long as we are all alive, nothing else matters”.
Nadim and his family are in serious need of financial help with repairs to their apartments and the business of the family (the gym).
