Our sweet brother Jose Luis, 50, a hardworking man, responsible father of two girls, Frida, 13 and Ana Sofia, 8, and a loving husband of Diana, had a horrible motorcycle accident on his way to work.
Nuestro amado hermano José Luis, de 50 años, un hombre trabajador, padre responsable de dos niñas, Frida, de 13 y Ana Sofía, de 8, y amoroso esposo de Diana, tuvo un horrible accidente de motocicleta de camino al trabajo.
On Friday, September 21st, an animal jumped in front of Jose Luis’ motorcycle, and he immediately hit the brakes resulting in the motorcycle falling on top of him. His left foot became caught in the gear shift leading to an exposed fracture of his tibia bone, shattering the bones and disintegrating the cartilage of his ankle and foot, and breaking his knee.
El viernes 21 de septiembre, un animal saltó delante de la motocicleta de José Luis, él inmediatamente metió los frenos y la motocicleta cayó sobre él. Su pie izquierdo quedó atrapado en el pedal de velocidades, lo que resultó en una fractura expuesta del hueso de la tibia; los huesos de su tobillo y el empeine se hicieron añicos, todo el cartílago allí se desintegró y también se rompió la rodilla izquierda.
He’s now had two surgeries and we don’t know how many more are to come. He won’t be able to leave the bed for three months at the bare minimum. Diana has had to quit her job to help Jose Luis as his sole caretaker since the accident. One expense we are anticipating is the cost of an ambulance to take him to the hospital twice a month, as his left leg must remain straight for his knee to heal. We are also anticipating a long process of rehabilitation and intensive physical therapy, which in Mexico will have to come out-of-pocket. He will also need a vehicle, as he will never be able to ride a motorcycle. We are praying that he will be able to use this leg again one day. Jose Luis is a salesman and since September 21st has been unable to work.
Ya ha tenido dos cirugías y no sabemos cuántas más vendrán. No podrá abandonar la cama durante tres meses como mínimo. Diana tuvo que dejar su trabajo inmediatamente para ayudar a José Luis ya que es la única persona que lo está cuidando por completo desde el accidente. Un gasto que estamos anticipando es el costo de transporte en ambulancia para llevarlo al hospital dos veces al mes, ya que su pierna izquierda debe permanecer recta para que su rodilla sane. También estamos anticipando un largo proceso de rehabilitación y terapia física intensiva, y en México estos son gastos no cubiertos por su Seguro Social. Necesitará también algún vehículo, ya que jamás podrá andar en motocicleta. Estamos orando para que pueda usar su pierna de nuevo algún día. José Luis es un vendedor y desde el 21 de septiembre no ha podido trabajar.
His family is devastated. His three sisters are his only immediate family. Their incomes are modest, and they are anticipating not only medical costs such as supplies, medicine and rehabilitation, but living expenses for Jose Luis and his family, as well, for about 6 months to a year.
Su familia está desolada. Sus tres hermanas son su única familia inmediata. Sus ingresos son modestos y anticipan no solo los costos médicos como suministros, medicamentos y rehabilitación, sino también los gastos de manutención de José Luis y su familia por espacio de seis meses a un año.
Please help our brother Jose Luis and his family avoid further tragedy and ensure that his recovery is successful. It’s a very painful situation of loss of health and extreme financial hardship.
