SOS - Help Keep My Head Above Water

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Lawrence W. Ash, I am a 50 year old man, and I grew up in the small coastal community south of Boston called, Cohasset.

I currently live in Marshfield with my daughter Ashley Ash, and I also have a son who's  achieved adulthood, and has gone on to start his own family, and lives in another country. Any close relatives once involved in our family relations; have all moved to different parts of the country--therefore, communications are minimal, and help is un-achievable.

Over the past 35 years, I have become a skilled tradesmen in the painting and carpentry sectors, of the building and construction industry. Throughout this time, I have owned and operated my own self-employment, by working for other contractors, and building my skills to achieve owning and operating my own small home improvement business. Over the duration of this time period, I was continuously giving to the community, supporting local businesses, and becoming a reputable staple of the community. However, after the 2008 recession, my business--much like many others--had to close our doors, and cease operation(s).

Forward to 2018, and I continue to work as an independent contractor, however, with the current business model; I am subcontracting my work from a local builder, and taking other small independent projects for weekends to make ends meet. Therefore, my current income status is living paycheck-to-paycheck.

Dear Family, Friends, Facebook Friends, and Supporters,

Some of you may have already heard the tragic news--that I took a fall and suffered a life-changing event--others thought of this as an April Fools joke. On Saturday, March, 31st 2018 while helping a friend paint his new boat; I took a devastating fall that was approximately 12ft-14ft off of the side of the boat, where I landed onto the wooden dock below. These injuries include; a severely fractured wrist, broken and/or dislocated toe, and a bruised occocyx (tailbone). This has resulted in permanent injuries, which will forever impact the use of my right wrist. My wrist was so severely damaged, that it required surgical procedures; including installing permanent pins, plates, and hardware to reconstruct the distal radial fracture. For a painter who relies on his right hand to complete his job-related tasks--such as swinging a paintbrush--these injuries have directly impacted my ability to earn a living, permanently.

Due to these life-altering events that has just taken place, it has already had an immediate effect on my ability to meet my financial responsibilities. Medical bills have already amounted, and I have no health insurance to cover these costs, not to mention, I have no source if income to pay for my living expenses. Any and all donations raised by the GoFundMe will be used towards paying the following expenses. These include, but are not limited to; Medical bills, rent payments, car insurance, household expenses, utility bills, phone bills, transportation services and any other responsibilities which may be affected from this catastrophic tragedy. Additionally, new unexpected expenses are sure to arise as a result of this accident.

The success of this campaign is an imperative part to achieving a successful recovery. If we don't sustain our financial stability and help offset the cost(s) of the medical bills, and continue to remain financially independent throughout the long recovery and rehabilitation process; we will result in further dismay.

We would be forever grateful for any donation, no matter how small it may seem. Anyone who would like to participate in gathering and collecting donations and necessities, we would also be forever grateful for these efforts; as we are already overwhelmed with medical treatments, doctors appointments, and additional assistance in my day-to-day routines.

My family, and I would like to thank you all in advance for your support during my time of need. We are welcoming anything from the smallest prayer, to the most heartfelt donation.

Sincerely,

Lawrence W. Ash
