The Southern off Road Bicycling Association (SORBA) - West Georgia Chapter is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit organization. Our organization’s mission is to build and maintain natural tread trails for enjoyment by bikers, walkers, and runners in the counties of Cobb, Douglas and Paulding, GA.
In conjunction with Cobb County Parks & Recreation we have built metro Atlanta area’s largest trail system with bike access at Allatoona Creek Park (ACP) in Acworth, GA. Over 50,000 volunteer man hours have gone into the construction of 18 miles of trails at ACP. There are plans in place to expand the trail system at ACP in 2015.
Help Us Replace our Stolen Trailer and Trail Building Tools:
On the night of December 10, 2015 all of our plans were put on hold. Thieves cut their way into the fenced storage yard at ACP, circumvented the hitch lock system, and stole our 2013 6’ by 12’ Diamond Cargo Trailer and our complete inventory of tools. The trailer and tools were valued at $5,400. Earlier in 2014 the SORBA – West Georgia Board Of Directors tried to purchase insurance for the trailer and contents but the high premium and deductibles offered in the quotes made insuring for a loss impractical.
As a result of the above we are reaching out to trail users, supporters of trials, or those who support the work of nonprofits whose missions promote community improvement, to donate to the cause of generating funds to replace our trailer and tools. Your support will be greatly appreciated and will allow us to continue to improve our communities!
