Sophie's Fight With Cancer

First of all thank you for checking out our page! Let me start off by telling a story of a vibrant amazing little girl. Sophia is a 7 year old that can light up any room with her smile and her personality. Sophia is the little girl that will go get muddy with her brothers sisters and daddy, as well as, play dress up, do make up, and sing with her mom and sisters.
Sophia recently fell off of the trampoline and was complaining of pain. No big deal right? WRONG. Just to make sure she did not dislocate or break anything Sophia was taken to the hospital for a routine xray. This “routine” xray showed an abnormal growth possibly in her lung. Further tests and PET scan revealed Sophia has Ewings Sarcoma in her chest/lung cavity. After careful debate and collaboration with the doctor a port was placed and chemotherapy was started. Sophia is basically on a one week on one week off schedule. During this time Sophia is inpatient at the hospital for 4-6 days at a time. This is tough for Sophia because she loves her brothers and sisters and can not see them. While Sophia is in the hospital one of her parents travels home every night to spend time and tuck in her 7 siblings (6 under the age of 6.) Get them all up the next morning, and then head back to the hospital to support Sophia.
While Sophie has insurance some things are not covered. One of the big decisions that need to be made in the next couple weeks is Sophies future. Chemotherapy is very toxic and can damage things other than the tumor. One of these is reproduction when she gets older. If any of you know Sophie you know that she loves her baby dolls and dreams of being a mommy just like hers. The process of preserving her reproduction ability is VERY expensive and not covered by insurance, the cost of travel and meals is also an added expense to the family.
I am asking any of you that know The Davies Family to please consider donating to help them out at this time. They are a huge asset to the kitsap county community, providing a home to foster children and mentoring to parents not on the right track. I know they would give the shirt off of their backs if we needed it and I think we can pay it forward. Thank you for your time and consideration.
