Dear Family and Friends,
This is a very exciting time in my life! Over the past year, God has changed my heart in ways I cannot begin to put into words. I have been introduced to real, meaningful relationships and community, what it means to not just be a believer but to be a pursuer of Jesus, the difference between being a follower and a disciple, and how I can effectively and lovingly spread the word of God. But I am desperate to dive even deeper. A few months ago, being a senior in highschool, I was contemplating about what I should do with my future, and was constantly praying for God to open my eyes to a path. I was introduced to an organization called YWAM (Youth With A Mission) from a good friend I had met with at a coffee shop that day. I was instantly intrigued with his story about his adventures on his trip to Australia and jumped on my laptop when I got home and researched as much as I could about it and decided to start my application. Everything began to fall into place, and I am happy to announce that I have officially been accepted to the YWAM Waves five-month Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Australia and will be leaving this September!
YWAM is a worldwide missionary organization that seeks to train and equip young people to gain a passion for Jesus and make a difference in the world for the gospel. At YWAM Waves in Australia, I will attend a DTS where I will receive intense Bible training from various missionaries from around the world, and where we will host local outreach and evangelism events. After three months, our class will apply what we’ve learned for two months overseas in unreached areas of the world. We will focus on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the local people through planting churches, travelling to remote villages, working in orphanages, and performing on the streets of cities.When I return to the States, my mission is to be fully equipped to share the gospel, have a deeper understanding of the bible and God’s love for us through his word, be able to use my personal experiences and testimony to impact my local community, and to serve every person God brings into my sphere of influence in a way that seeks the best for them in Jesus’ name. I would love to have you support me prayerfully and/or financially to enable me to attend YWAM Waves. The cost of this program is approximately $11,000. With your support, the gospel can meet the spiritual and physical needs of hurting and broken people in the remote regions of the world. My hope and prayer is that we can all partake in Christ’s final command to “make disciples of all nations,” whether it is across the street or around the world.
