In September of 2016, my beautiful, vibrant best friend was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer that spread to her lymph nodes. When she told me the news, I cried, and she was the one comforting ME.! I feared the worst, and I was devastated at the thought of a world without Somer Goodrich. We have been friends for over 25 years and she is part of my family, and I hers. Despite our fears, she was optimistic about her situation and ready to fight.
Her battle and journey have not been easy. She has completed 2 rounds of chemotherapy, which have made her very sick - not to mention she is allergic to the chemotherapy drugs (she is an anomaly, haha). She also spent 2 weeks in the hospital in December due to a lung infection and pneumonia. Despite these setbacks, she has remained positive and always has a beautiful smile on her face. At this time, Somer is in the middle of her 3rd phase of chemo. This will last until November.
Somer had a lumpectomy and radical mastectomy on March 28th and will soon be going through weeks of radiation. She is doing currently doing well, but her fight is far from over. As if she doesn't have enough to worry about, finances have become a concern. Her roommate moved out at the beginning of her treatment, which caused a financial strain on her and her boyfriend, Derek. Somer lost her job just days before she was diagnosed with Cancer. She was able to receive unemployment for a short time, but it has run out.
I am now humbly asking for your assistance. Due to the fact that her unemployment has run out, Somer needs our help. I asked her from day 1 of her diagnosis if she wanted me to start a fundraiser to help with anything and she refused, determined to figure it out on her own. It has now gotten to the point that she can't do it on her own ,and I am asking for your help. I am trying to raise money to help her out with her living expenses. The money will go towards her living expenses, rent, transportation, etc., while she continues her treatment. I understand if you are unable to donate, but even if you could just share this post, I would be extremely grateful. I don't ask for much, but I am hoping you could find it in your hearts to consider donating. Even the smallest amount would be a huge help. Thank you so much. Much love!!
