Some Bread for Thaïs and John

If you’ve found yourself here, you’re no doubt aware of the heartbreaking news that the wonderful John Reid, founder of RedBeard Bakery in Trentham, has brain cancer.
His wife Thaïs is one of my dearest friends, and through our many years of work, friendship and collaboration, my impression of John has been one of a most loving, supportive and devoted husband and father; an impassioned conservationist; advocate for Indigenous rights and regenerative farming; and a man globally recognised for his commitment to sustainable, health-giving and ethical organic food production.
The communities of Mount Alexander Shire, the Macedon Ranges and beyond have been rocked by the news of John’s illness. Our aim with this campaign is to support Thaïs to not have to work during this overwhelming time so she can entirely place her focus on her family.
Thaïs is an incredibly giving and generous woman who wears a thousand different hats with tremendous skill: from performing arts teacher extraordinaire to Five Rhythms instructor, Bakery marketeer and kindergarten wrangler! If you’re here, the incredible spirit of this remarkable human has no doubt touched you.
While money doesn’t change everything – it can certainly help lessen the stresses of some things. I’m asking you to spare whatever you’re able to help ease the financial burden on John and Thaïs as they navigate these rapidly changing events together.
Please only give what you can. Knowing Thaïs and John, I’m sure they’d both be adamant that you only contribute what you can comfortably afford. Let’s reach out to the myriad loving friends and networks around the world and give something back to these beautiful people who have given so much, and made all of our lives so much richer for being part of them. For those friends and loved ones interstate or overseas, I’m sure they’d greatly appreciate the opportunity to provide some aid while they can’t be with them in person.
