Help Somaliland Football Association host the CONIFA World Football Cup 2020!
Football, the beautiful game, is coming to Somaliland – and we need your help!
Thanks to the hard-working, ambitious staff at Somaliland FA, we have secured the opportunity to host an international football tournament in Somaliland; a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the people of the region.
To host the CONIFA World Football Cup 2020, Somaliland FA has agreed to prepare at least four stadiums for the championship. The Somaliland government has already invested heavily in the regeneration of sporting facilities in the country, laying artificial surfaces and building new stadiums in cities such as Borama and Burco.
However, the current infrastructure still requires updating. There is no seating, changing rooms, audio systems or visual aids in any of the grounds. Playing surfaces need re-laying, especially within the national stadium in Hargeysa, which will be used to host the World Football Cup final.
The estimated cost for the refurbishment of the main stadiums in Hargeysa, Gabiley, Borama and Burco is £1,135,064. This cost comes from installing seating for fans, lighting for night matches, electrical and plumbing work across the stadium, the re-laying of the pitch, and putting in an audio system for announcements.
Every single donation generated through this Gofundme page will be put towards the refurbishment of stadium facilities. It will be handled with full transparency and great sense of compassion.
