Solo Belcanto 2014

Solo Belcanto è un nuovo Festival che nasce dalla passione per la musica, per l’opera, per il belcanto appunto. Non inteso limitatamente ad un periodo ben preciso della storia del melodramma, il primo Ottocento italiano, ma ampliato al concetto di "canto bello", nobile, espressivo, capace di emozionare e commuovere.
Nasce nel borgo medievale di Montisi, splendido luogo della campagna toscana, in un territorio che si colloca come linea di confine tra le Crete Senesi e la Val d’Orcia. Nasce nel suo teatro, quello della Grancia, uno dei più piccoli al mondo: appena 60 posti, suddivisi fra una platea e tre palchi.
La realizzazione di Solo Belcanto si deve alla generosità degli artisti, cantanti e pianisti accompagnatori, e di coloro, istituzioni pubbliche e privati, che hanno creduto con entusiasmo in questo progetto culturale. A tutti va il nostro più caloroso ringraziamento.

Solo Belcanto is a new Festival which comes from a passion for music, the opera and particularly for belcanto. Not limited to a precise period of the history of Italian opera, that is the first part of the nineteenth century, but expanded to the idea of "beautiful singing": noble, expressive, capable to move and be moved.
The Festival will be based in the medieval village of Montisi, in a beautiful area of the Tuscan countryside, near the border between the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia. The local theater, the Teatro della Grancia is one of the smallest in the world: just 60 seats, divided between the stalls and three boxes.
The realization of Solo Belcanto is thanks to the generosity of the artists, singers and pianists, and of those, public and private, who believed with enthusiasm in this cultural project. All deserve our warmest thanks.
