Solidarity in Manguinhos

WHO WE ARE

We are researchers and students from Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz ) who use solidarity to fight #covid19. We are joining forces with representatives of the “Saúde da Família de Manguinhos”, #MãesdeManguinhos, and #MinasdaBola to collect, organize and distribute food and hygiene kits. The central goal is to reach the population in extreme poverty who are the most vulnerable in the face of the pandemic.

THE ACTION

As social distancing has been used as the central strategy to control the dissemination of COVID-19, thousands of informal workers lost their income and are not able to guarantee basic needs for their family survival and dignity. We decided, therefore, to start this fundraising. The money collected will be used to buy food, cleaning and hygiene care products that will be distributed to people from the community of Manguinhos, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
