Soldier Support (SSG Attia)

I am Staff Sergeant Attia, currently serving in South Korea with my family. I have my wife Anna, my daughter Hannah is 8 years, my son Daniel Is 2 years  and my youngest Elianna is 6months old. On the early morning of November 22, 2019 I was on my way to work (Camp Humphreys), on a local road near the installation when I made a bad decision to go through what I thought at the time was a blinking red light. Not seeing any cars coming as I went through the light my vehicle collided with a local Korean citizen bingo truck with three older Korean citizens in it. Of the three passengers an 70 years old lady was paralyze due the accident. Because of the seriousness of the accident I have been trail in the Korean Court system and I have been sentenced to 8months in Korean jail if I am unable to make a settlement with the family of the victims. The family is currently suing me for 30 million korean won which is the equivalent of $25,000. Even though they have max out my insurance of $350,000, they are saying the estimate amount of money it will cost for the victim to maintain living n total medical is about $500,000. Since my insurance doesn’t allow them to claim that money that is why they have sued me. Due to my family and current financial crisis we are unable to meet their demands and have pleaded with them to take less but they have refuse. And according to korean law if we cannot settle with the victims I will be subject to the ruling of their courts system. We have been giving an opportunity to appeal which another chance and time to come to agreement with the family. The bottom line is, if I do not come to an agreement or make the payment to the victim, I will  be order to jail time, I will be chapter from the service and my family will be stranded here in South Korea. This is the last thing I wanted to do but I am humbly asking for the assistance of my friends, family, colleagues and anyone who is able to help us raise what we can to offer this family, in return saving my family from what would be tragic.
