Our beloved father, Ustadh Yousif Hamid Humed was a man of extraordinary character (May God have mercy on him). He was an honest man.
Ustadh Yousif returned to his lord on Friday the 2nd of July 2021 in his home in Melbourne, Australia. Born in Keren, Eritrea Ustadh Yousif was a minister and an educator who taught in various schools across the country. He dedicated his years to contributing to the betterment of his community.
His level of Sabr (patience) was unmatched, only God is aware to what extent. He was an exceptional leader, a man of honour, faith, integrity and fairness. He was a brave man.
He never complained nor did he let any bitterness or grudge enter his heart.
His lengthy work in advocacy and empowerment, his passion for democracy, his commitment to education, his love for the needy and his bravery saw him defend and protect his community even if it meant going against political forces.
Ustadh Yousif Hamid moved to Australia in the 1990s with his wife Khadiga Tekles and 5 children Mukhtar, Amara, Nejma, Entisar and Amna Hamid.
Loved immensely by his wife, friends and family, Ustadh Yousif Hamid was a great example of what the prophet taught us, ‘to love for your brother what you love for yourself
