Ken & Tracie Soderstrom’s Home Fire

On Tuesday October 20th, 2020, my parents, Ken and Tracie Soderstrom suffered a devastating loss. Their home caught fire and they lost everything! They literally have nothing! For now they are relying on donations for their bare essentials. Their 2 cars were in the garage, where the fire started, and were completely destroyed.
Our family was home at the time, but we were unaware of the danger until we heard various items in the garage exploding. Thinking these were gunshots, we ran out the front door to see what was happening. As we exited, the garage door blew open from the raging fire inside. Immediately, the whole house started filling with toxic smoke.
We ran back upstairs to save our pets and were able to escape, along with our 2 dogs. Our cat hid and couldn’t be found. Thankfully, the Fort Worth Fire Department located her, and she also made it through alive.
While the whole family suffered from smoke inhalation, my mom required a trip to the emergency room for treatment. Thanks be to God, our whole family is alive and well, albeit shaken from our experience.
It is estimated the restoration of the home will take from 9 months to a year to complete. Most of the contents of the home are damaged beyond salvage.
My parents don’t typically ask others for help with their finances. But, under these dire circumstances any gift offered, monetary or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.
