Help our neighbors stay in their home!
Our neighbor Socorro and her family have lived in their home on Alabama Street for the past 17 years. Recently they were intimidated and harassed into moving out of their home by the current owner and a potential buyer who wants to take advantage of the booming real estate market by flipping the building. Not being aware of her rights as a tenant, Socorro was bullied into a verbal agreement that she and her family would leave the building. According to the SF Rent Board this is an illegal eviction.
When we heard about this unfortunate series of events, our neighbors rallied together and informed her of her rights. Socorro decided to stand up to the harassment and remain in her home. Sadly, at that point she was already living in her car. To make matters worse, her housemates have given in to the harassment and left, leaving Socorro with little means with which to pay the rent.
Please help Socorro get back on her feet! Let's ensure that she can pay her rent for this month and fight back against these unscrupulous speculators!
