WHEW! Glad I got that out of the way. When it comes to helping, we would give the shirts off our backs but when it comes to asking for help….plain and simple…we just would rather not. But here’s our dilemma, friends. Our son Devin has this AWESOME, AMAZING, ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity for next summer and frankly it’s making us sick trying to figure out how to make this happen for him. Let me break it down for you. Devin is a spunky, outgoing, hilarious 11 year old who loves soccer. And when I say he loves soccer, I mean he LOVES SOCCER. The only thing he may love more is us, his parents, and his absolute favorite player Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Real Madrid.

The love burns deep and his passion for soccer began at the young age of 4 years old. I probably am the guilty one for the eat, sleep, breathe soccer obsession as I have loved soccer since I was a little girl. I still play as an adult (a slower, older, heavier version lol). But Devin, man is he good. And the best part? HE ENJOYS IT. He wants to play, he wants to practice, he wants to improve, and he has goals. “Guess what, Mom. I’m going to be the youngest player ever to be drafted to MLS & the USMNT. Then from there Zinedine Zidane is going to recruit me to play for Real Madrid, and if that happens within the next few years, I will get to play with Ronaldo before he retires. Or maybe Marcelo. And then I can meg Messi.”

We love him. We love his spirit. We love his character, his innocence, his passion. We love that he loves soccer. Moreover, we do everything we can to support him. The reason I am telling you all this is because of the “AWESOME, AMAZING, ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity for next summer” that I mentioned above. My hands are shaking as I write this I kid you not. Devin has the opportunity to travel to Spain in the summer of 2018 for a Madrid training program!!!!!!!!!!!! Madrid, Spain, home of one of the world’s greatest professional soccer clubs EVER!!!

We cannot even begin to tell you what this opportunity would mean for Devin. This would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip to further his skills in the sport he loves, to gain exposure internationally, and to train among the best in the great Madrid, Spain! It would be 7 days packed full of training with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid coaches, sightseeing the famous stadiums and touring well known landmarks, and playing against top level Spanish teams to name a few things. HOW AMAZING WOULD THAT BE.

We need your help getting him there. Please. I would sell a kidney but let’s be honest, probably wouldn’t be the best idea LOL. As parents our priorities are making sure our children are taken care of and safe, that they are fed, and have a roof over their head. The fun stuff, the dreams…those all come in last after all of your hard work, after the bills are paid, and frankly after life happens. To keep this as honest and transparent as possible, we cannot afford to send Devin.

This is why we are asking for your help, friends. We would love to be able to send Devin on our own; we would sign him up in a heartbeat. The problem we are facing is that it is not only the per person fee plus additional airfare for Devin, one of us parents would have to go with him as he would be traveling internationally for a week. Don’t get me wrong, we are absolutely dropping spare change in a jar and tucking money aside to put in what we can. I am okay with eating ramen noodles every day for lunch for the next 8 months. We're just throwing out a life line, a friendly call for help. We have a little over 4 months to pay our deposit (February 2018) and a little over 8 months to pay in full (June 2018). Please consider helping us fulfill Devin’s dreams.

We wish upon a shooting star, if it’s meant to be it will happen! We literally cannot wait to see the excitement on his face and sparkle in his eyes if we are able to pull this off.
