The current global health crisis is having a severe impact on the arts community. Independent contract workers are financially vulnerable in our community when a crisis like this hits. This fund is set up to collect donations from those of us with the means to help. Now is the time to come together as a community of both artists and patrons to show solidarity and give hope. Even a small amount can make a big difference in what seems to be a prolonged break in performance income for many musicians.
Concerts and productions are, understandably, being cancelled throughout the region. This pandemic is causing many performers to wonder if they can even continue working in this field. SoCal has one of the biggest and most vibrant performing arts communities in this country; and it is vital that both high quality and aspiring vocal artists stay financially afloat until this crisis has passed. Please help us continue to keep Southern California a thriving hub of musical culture.
If you are someone who has ever enjoyed a musical performance and you have the means to donate any amount, please consider giving to this cause. Your donation will help sustain a community of people so that they can continue to give and share their gift of music. Even if you are unable to contribute financially, please share this relief fundraiser with your friends, family, and colleagues in the hopes that we can help as many freelance vocalists as possible.
Who is this relief fund for?
This relief fund is intended to help those pursuing careers as vocalists. This fund is specifically for freelance vocalists who were engaged with a company in the Southern California area and have lost income due to show or concert cancellations between March 1 and October 31st, 2020. If your income has been directly impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis due to a show or concert cancellation and you are in need of short-term, immediate financial assistance, we would like to help. Unfortunately, we cannot hope to replace all artists' entire fees or lost work. However, we wish to provide hope and some assistance in getting through this crisis. All funds will go directly to freelance vocalists that apply for this relief.
How do I apply to receive funding?
Please complete the SoCal Vocalist Relief Fund Request Form to request financial assistance. You will need to provide your contact information, the contact information for the company/ies in which you were engaged, and the amount lost for each gig. Please upload a screenshot of you sharing the fundraiser on your social media account. We'd appreciate it if you can share the link with a personal message from you. *In order to keep these donations flowing, we need everyone's help in getting the word out!*
We will distribute funds in these 3 categories per person, on a first-come, first-served basis:
Total Contract/Amount Lost of under $250= full compensation
Total Contract/Amount Lost of $250-$999= $250
Total Contract/Amount Lost of $1,000+= 25% compensation
The first distributions will be made on Monday, March 23rd, on a first-come, first-served basis for as long as funds are available.
