SOAP - Short Film

Donation protected
"A tale of soap, chemical castration and grotesque maiming, is Nick’s emotional scar tissue deeper than the physical alterations he leaves on his bullies?"

After surviving years of bullying, Nick’s best friend and former bully Harrison surprises him with a gift from their past. The present: former partner in crime Brayden, who was framed for the chemical burns Harrison suffered in a prank gone wrong. Nick’s guilty conscious continues to play through the mind that hangs between his legs; knowing full well he was the culprit to chemically castrate the love of his life.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

We are a group of six Murdoch University students creating our final short film before the completion of our degrees. SOAP will be our most notable production to date, with hopes to reach Australian film festivals, and potentially, International.

With your help, we aspire to produce the best possible film adaptation of a beautifully written script by Matthew Minervini. Your contribution will assist us in sourcing props, costumes, locations and equipment, alongside insuring the well-being of our entire cast and crew on set, and covering film festival application fees.

THE CREW

Matthew Minervini - Writer/Director

“Matthew Minervini is the director for SOAP. Matt has always wanted to write and direct a film to the same level that Edgar Wright or Quentin Tarantino would be proud of. In the past, Matt has been restricted to writing and directing character driven dramas and a short horror film. However, Matt’s real passion lies in dark comedy and he is eager to see his script evolve into a compelling short film.”

Tahnee Lyons - Producer

“Tahnee Lyons is the producer for SOAP. Upon reading Matt’s script, she was very drawn to the narrative, believing it is a very unique and different concept not often seen in student films. Throughout pre-production, Tahnee has spent many hours with Matt reworking the script. She believes the film will have huge potential to reach film festivals domestically, and aspires to reach an international level. Tahnee is excited to work on this project with such a strong crew.”

Kimberley Putland - Director of Photography

“Kimberley Putland will be taking on the role as Director of Photography. She was drawn to SOAP’s clear aesthetic and the directors vision for the script. Kimberley is looking forward to shooting a dark comedy, something she’s never done before.”

Viktor Danierov - Production Designer

"Viktor Danierov was excited to become a part of the soap team, and is looking forward to working with an unfamiliar crew in order to gain knowledge and build friendships. Viktor saw SOAP as an excellent opportunity to explore the role of production design, a role he has been interested in pursuing."

Gus O'Keeffe - Sound Design

“Gus O’Keeffe will be handling the sound on SOAP. After dipping his toes in the worlds of drama and horror, he feels dark comedy is naturally the next step in his evolution as a film sound practitioner. The opportunity to work on a project with his friends, combined with the added tasks of composing his first original score, is something Gus looks forward to and he can’t wait to share this film with audiences everywhere."

Grace Watts - Editor

“Grace Watts will be taking on the role of the editor for our short film SOAP. She recently interned with post production company Siamese which helped foster an even greater creative desire for her craft. The contrast of upbeat comedy and dark subject matter is what attracted Grace to our project and she is eager to get started. With a fast-paced editing style, she hopes to achieve a witty and entertaining film that will showcase not just her own, but everybody’s hard work and dedication to the film.”
