Skyler Howes 2021 Dakar Rally Fundraiser

We met Skyler Howes a couple of years ago in Mexico at the 2018 Baja Rally.
Since then we have watched, as have many of you, as he has raced more Rally Raid and shown exceptional talent and improving results. Coming up soon, Skyler will be racing the 2021 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia as a privateer.
We reached out to him not too long ago to discuss his effort. Realizing that he really didn't have a significant level of support we decided we wanted to help him however we could. Maybe make it a little bit easier for him. It just doesn't feel right for him to come this far and not go race with the best opportunity to win possible. 
Skyler is very uncomfortable with starting a GoFundMe campaign for his Dakar pursuit. He really does not want anyone thinking he is looking for a handout. With a fair amount of pestering, he relented and let us start this campaign to crowd source some support for him. We have a feeling there are a lot of folks like us that are just excited to see more Americans racing Dakar and would like to help out in any way we can.
To put things in perspective... Skyler's tire and mousse bill for the Dakar Rally alone will be $7,500. His entry is close to $20,000. And there are going to be countless other expenses involved with this journey. Not to mention missed work and the cost of training between now and then. 
As of right now, Skyler is working as much as he can and he is gladly selling off his bikes and other gear to make this work.
