Skydive in aid of S.O.F.T Ireland

The charity Jack and I have chosen to support by doing this skydive is S.O.F.T Ireland as it is very dear to us. SOFT, the Support Organisation for Trisomy, is a voluntary group dedicated to providing support for families of children born with Patau’s Syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards’ Syndrome (Trisomy 18) and related chromosomal disorders. Support is provided during prenatal diagnosis, during the child’s life and after the child’s passing.
SOFT puts families in contact with each another, provides information, funds bereavement counselling, funds respite assistance, publishes the SOFT booklet 'Why Our Baby' and a newsletter. SOFT also organise conferences and arranges professional speakers, fundraise through various events and links with S.O.F.T. organisations worldwide.
16 years ago in September my little brother Niall was born with a very rare condition known as Edward Syndrome. Doctors said Niall wouldn't survive the night however Niall fought for 9 months before loosing his battle to Edward Syndrome. He was a very sick baby always in and out of hospital but he has made a lasting impression on many people. My Mam and Dad were put in contact with people from SOFT when Niall was born we were introduced to families from all over Ireland who have been in our situation and made friends for life. SOFT gave us the strength and courage to overcome the death of Niall. We have always been keen to do a skydive in memory of Niall and I feel coming up to his 16th birthday is an appropriate time to complete this.
All proceeds will go directly to S.O.F.T Ireland.
