S. Khalilah Brann Scholarship

The S. Khalilah Brann Scholarship was established by her family to keep Khalilah’s amazing legacy alive. Khalilah was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a mentor to many. However, the title she might have loved the most was that of Educator. 

Khalilah created Culturally Responsive Educators of the African Diaspora (CREAD) with the mission of strengthening our children and community with PRIDE based on the Sankofa  principle. She dedicated her life to her people with emphasis on our youth.

The scholarship set up in Khalilah’s honor will continue her mission by providing support in ensuring the positive racial identity development through education of young people of the African Diaspora. Every dollar earned through this fund will go directly towards a tuition payment for deserving families attending Seneca Village Montessori School .

Seneca Village Montessori School is an African centered preschool based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Khalilah loved the school and its students so much that she set up her office there. Seneca Village Montessori’s mission is to promote social responsibility, and work toward instilling a strong sense of self, cultural identity, and belonging in its students. As an authentic Montessori school, their curriculum and programs are designed to build a solid foundation in academics, as well as social, emotional, physical and moral development.
