Sisters Time

Some things we do in this life can appear normal to the outside world. People boarding a plane for instance. But if you could know the where and why of their story, it might change things.
I'll soon be boarding a plane to go and say good-bye to my sister. Karen is in hospice. She has bravely battled breast cancer for 10 years. (The doctors have given her an idea of late fall...)
My mom will be boarding a plane to do the same thing...only, it's her daughter. Her 1st child. My mom, Anna, will also be hoping to see HER sister, Paula. My Aunt Paula has lung cancer...Strong as she is as a person...this is a cruel disease. She isn't able to fly. My mom probably won't be able to fly again all the way to California. It's a grueling flight for someone with severe arthritis. So...she will be saying goodbye to HER sister.
And then there are my daughters Danielle and Kara. These sisters (nieces/grand-daughters) are going to be boarding a plane to say goodbye as well. But they also want to share in the time together...to learn from their elder woman-folk about love, life, forgiveness and letting go...
When I say: saying "Good-bye", I mean the physical good-bye. Of course we'll be talking for as long after as we all can.
But...we are going to hurl our bodies through space to laugh together, cry together, have our last few hugs,
pray and be kind to each other...in this cruel world.
This will be a "Sisters Time" but it will also be a sabbatical of generational wisdom in a way. I am excited to do this but of course I also dread my emotional self. But it's not about me...It's about Love, Life & Sisters!
