Sister Needs Help With Medical Bill

Donation protected
My sister, Beth, lives outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas with her 14 year old daughter and husband. She worked as a barista at a coffee house to help supplement their income. But on February 14th of this year everything changed for her. She had been struggling with what she thought was the flu. She had a high temperature for several days and received several misdiagnosis over the course of a few weeks and a week long hospital stay. They told her she had pneumonia and treated her with antibiotics. They then determined she had a staph infection and put her in isolation for several days. She had minimal contact with her family and was scared to death. Our parents had to make the trip to Arkansas to help take care of her daughter while her husband continued to work to support them since she was not able to work at all for several weeks and had no sick time available.

After being sent home with little improvement and more antibiotics, Beth began developing new symptoms. In addition to the fever and difficulty breathing, she started having extreme chest pain, shoulder pain, and shortness of breath. She believed she was having a heart attack. This took her once again to the emergency room. Finally, after several tests, they realized that she had developed multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms and lung infarction in her left lung. So basically she had multiple blood clots in both lungs and the ones in the left side had blocked the blood supply to part of the lung, which was causing the tissue to die. They immediately put her on blood thinners, but the damage was already done. The tissue will never grow back. They explained to her that she had to be very careful to prevent one of the clots from dislodging, since this could cause stroke or death.

Now a new urgency began to determine the source of the clots. She has been to several specialists and received a battery of tests. There are still no answers. The struggle continues for her. In addition to the physical and mental tole this has taken on her, she lost her job once she'd been gone for so long and they couldn't keep her spot. This drained their savings and the medical bills are still piling up with no end in sight.

So it's with her humble permission that I created this GoFundMe account to try and help her. I know it's a lot to ask, but at the same time, she's my sister and I'd do anything to help her and my niece. If you can, please donate here to help her pay her medical bills and get her back on the road to recovery. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
