Dreams:

For a long time I've been growing into the trans woman I am today. Now I'm ready to take the next step into my transition by getting gender-affirming surgery which I've dreamed about for a long time. The surgery will improve my sense of safety as well as the feeling of life quality. For the past year, I've been wanting this intensely and I hope you all can help me to cover some of it.

About me:

My name is Sirena. I'm a 30-year-old racialized trans woman. I live in Copenhagen where I've been very active in the QTIBIPOC community. I consider myself an activist and community organizer. I'm studying social work in hopes of being able to give back to and strengthen the community. I feel very humble to ask for help from allies and the different communities I'm a part of.

Surgery:

When initially researched, the surgery would cost 300.000 DKK / 40.000 EU. I will never be able to pay that much money. I've now decided to travel to México to get the surgery done. While the price is more affordable, I'm still not willing to compromise with the safety and result of the surgery. Many places don't offer the necessary scans and other safety measurements which can cause severe damages and potentially be life-threatening. I've now found a place that I thrust and feel safe about. The only thing keeping me from getting the surgery is the lack of funds to pay for it.

Economy:

Since I started my transition in 2018, I haven't had a stable economy. I'm studying and working two part time jobs which barely cover my rent and monthly expenses. I've taken a big student loan to cover part of the surgery but I'm also scared of indebting myself and not being able to pay it back. I'm asking you all for help to cover some part of the surgery expenses.

Fundraiser covers:

- Some of the surgery cost (salaries, instruments, medication)

- Pre-operation (planning, tests and safety of the surgery)

- Post-operation (follow-ups, medication and aftercare)

- Travel and accommodation expenses
