CAMBODIAN FAMILY'S DREAM

Donation protected
This fundraiser was created to fufill the dreams of a family in need and set them up for a sustainable better quality of life. The Sin Phim family is a big, beautiful family of 14 from Sihanouk, Cambodia. They have lived in poverty their whole lives. However, the past two years have brought more pain and challenges than ever. Since the tragic passing of their 25-year-old son Seng in 2015, they have been displaced and forced to leave their home of 15 years. This put them into a spiral of quite severe poverty, half the time not knowing if they would make enough money for daily food. They had to immediately relocate and build a temporary home on borrowed land in a nearby area of their neighborhood. The mother of the househould got severely ill, and two babies were born, giving them no choice but to borrow money.
They have dreamt of building a permanent, concrete home on the plot of land next to their temporary home that their family can live in for generations. This would not only provide them with comfort and safety, but would allow them to have a much more self sustaining lifestyle with the ability to open up a shop in the front of their home (a very common sight in Cambodia) and sell to the local people of their small, but populated neighborhood. After construction they will be able to grow vegetables on the land as well. It would mean the absolute world to this family if anyone helped them get closer to their goals.

In 2016, we raised about $2,500 of our $8,000 goal. The funds were spent on medical bills, building supplies (stones, sand, concrete, and transport of materials), and debt payment. As I am back in the country a year later, I am so excited to start up a new, better fundraiser for this incredible family. We truly appreciate every dollar, and each donation goes a long way here in Cambodia.

The funds will go directly to building materials and construction, and will also help contribute to school fees for Kai, age 6, and her older sister Koit, age 9.

THANK YOU!

Koit, age 9
