single mom and suddenly ill son

Mateo is a 12 yr old boy that is a close friend of my son William.   Very recently he went from playing with my son in our backyard to a WHEELCHAIR due to a rare disease.   Overnight he had to be admitted to hospital.  His mom, a single parent, is currently LIVING at the hospital with her son.  She lives in Coquitlam, the hospital is in Vancouver.    Her ONLY option to stay with her son at the hospital is for UNPAID LEAVE.  As a single parent that puts in jeopardy her ability  to pay her rent and living expenses.  The expectation is that the treatment for Mateo will take months.   

My ask as a friend of the family, is some financial help to get them over the hump of having to pay for living expenses while Mateo is receiving medical treatment.

I am ALSO trying to source a new laptop for Mateo since he will be isolated in a hospital room for a very long time and may not be able to start school in the fall, as doctor's so far have advised.

The situation is urgent and I would like to say THANK YOU to any and all that help.
