Hello,

My name is Anthony Lewis, and I am writing this today on behalf of my friend Dallas Medlock. Dallas is a young father diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure and we are raising funds to support him and his family through these challenging times. He is currently unable to work because of the toll this diagnosis has taken on him and the extreme fatigue it has caused. Let me take a moment to say thank you for reading and I hope his story will touch you as his presence has touched me and the people closest to him.

I met Dallas in 2007 while we were freshmen at Columbus State University and like most freshmen, we had big dreams. He was one of the first people I met and our friendship has been strong ever since. Not only is Dallas one of the best men that I have met but he exemplifies what it means to be a great father. He is currently 33 but had his son Jay while in school at age 20. Unlike most 20-year-olds who party during college, Dallas’s time was spent raising his son and coaching him for a promising youth football career.

His diagnosis End Stage Renal Disease is a condition in which a person’s kidneys fail, causing them to need dialysis or a kidney transplant. A person’s kidney is responsible for removing waste and excess fluids from your body; without it, toxins would build up, causing problems like hypertension. This diagnosis is usually not given to individuals of Dallas’s age which is why we are reaching out to our social circles to ask for help.

Failing Kidneys and Different Treatment Options

We are trying to raise 10,000 dollars to help with his medical and personal bills. Ideally the money will be split evenly for these categories, he has car related expenses and some past-due bills that will get paid. Money will also go towards covering various medications and items related to his diagnosis because of the lack of coverage under the current provider. We are also looking into various supplemental medical plans like Medi Gap because of the extreme cost of care and the age restrictions with standard medical coverage. Thank you again for taking time to read this and I pray you hug your loved ones a little closer knowing life can be unpredictable.
