Help me study and sing in Barcelona
Hola amigos!
First, I wanna give you the good news. I got accepted to the Barcelona Festival of Song 2013 to study Latin American and Spanish repertoires and participate in a number of amazing workshops with Colombian soprano Patricia Caycedo.
As a vocal music student this is a great opportunity to explore these repertoires which are rarely even mentioned or studied in depth in most undergraduate music programs. As a Latin American it is just a treat to be able to look at my own musical heritage from an academic perspective and help keep it alive by studying it and performing it in Barcelona, and later bringing it back to the U.S. after the program.
And now the bad news. The program costs money! I've received some help from friends and family, but I'm trying to scrape together the minimum I need to participate which is $3,500. I'm currently a full time student working part time which will help me raise the money for the travel expenses, and I'm currently applying for a second on campus job which will help me a little bit more, but I still can't afford the summer program. My parents are also trying to help, but can only do so much. They both have full time jobs. And over the years, have supported my education so that I can say yes to nearly every opportunity I've received. That's why I'm asking for your help.
And so I'm reaching out to all of you: friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and anyone who might be able to give me a hand. Perhaps you can donate $10 or $20 or more between now and mid-February where I'll have confirm my enrollment to help me participate in what is truly one of the best opportunities and biggest dreams of my life. I would also appreciate if you shared this with a friend or relative who might be able to help me.
So please consider helping me. Any donation you give through gofundme.com is secure. If you don't feel comfortable with online donations please email me [email redacted] and we can figure out another way for you to help me.
