Everyone who knows our mom knows that she's constantly putting others before herself. On Friday, June 12 my sister forced our mom to put herself first for once, taking her to Urgent Care after some severe back pain that basically made her immobile.
After drawing some labs and taking some x-rays, she was set up to see a specialist next week and sent home. However, by the time my sister got our mom home they were calling her saying she needed to be taken to the hospital. After numerous scans, biopsies, and lab work she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma - a blood cancer that affects the plasma cells in bone marrow. The doctors plan to be "aggressive" with her treatment which will begin immediately.
My brother, sister and I are doing all we can to make things easier on our mom. She's not allowed to work per the doctor's orders and she keeps worrying about how she's going to pay for all of this and stay on top of her bills. Given everything going on and what she's going through, that's the last thing we want her worrying about.
All of her attention needs to be on her health right now. We need her to focus on herself for once so she can have the strength to get through this, which is why my brother, sister and I decided to create this GoFundMe page.
We hate asking for help unless it's absolutely necessary - but I can assure you all that we have hit that "absolutely necessary" point. Our mom currently has no income and continued care, chemo, etc is already in discussion, so the bills are going to continue to keep on coming in.
We understand times are hard right now, so if you can't afford to donate at the moment please just share this page so that others may see it.
Our mom has impacted so many lives and helped an endless amount of people throughout her life. She's a wonderful woman who deserves the world and we hate seeing her in the amount of pain she's in. We can assure everyone that she is in phenomenal care and surrounded by a great healthcare team. We're not all allowed in the room with her at once due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the doctor was able to bend the rules a little and allow two of us with her at once so we're tag-teaming it!
