Silvia's battle against cancer

I've got a heartfelt story to share about an incredible human being and friend. Let me introduce to you Silvia Cabrera! Bringing with her infectious joy and a passion for teaching Spanish, she joined the Participate program and is currently in her third year of teaching in North Carolina for Cabarrus County Schools. Silvia, along with her husband and two adorable kiddos, arrived 3 years ago ready for a life-changing adventure, eagerly embracing the opportunities that the US had to offer.

However, God and life had different plans for now. In December, she got the news no one ever wants to hear – a cancer diagnosis. Despite this tough situation, she's facing it head-on, going through treatments and exams to figure out the best way forward.

As Silvia kicks off her treatment, the reality is sinking in that she won't be able to work and support her family like she used to. Chemotherapy takes a toll, and she needs time to recover after each session.

Tengo una conmovedora historia que compartir sobre una persona increíble y amiga. ¡Permíteme presentarte a Silvia Cabrera!
