Silver Sands Family and Future

Hi, my name is Dawn Jessen I have worked as a manager at Silver Sands for 10 years. On behalf of Andrea and the rest of the crew I have opened this page. Please read the note from Andrea:

To All of My Guest and Friends:

It’s with a devastated, saddened heart that the cottages are no more. After the death of my husband, Tom, I didn’t think things could get worse, and then we had COVID, and now my life’s work washed away. Some of the staff made out better than others, but half of us had monumental losses. Javier and Jenn lost everything in the flood waters that were 5 feet inside their homes. They slept on refrigerators to ride out the storm. They have the clothes on their backs and gratefully their lives.

The staff and myself in most cases lost their only source of income, with the future of replacement jobs bleak as IAN has taken out countless hospitality and restaurant jobs. BUT our island and community are strong and we will rebuild, however, it will be a couple of years to complete.

I plan on rebuilding our slice of paradise and am asking for your help to complete it. Building codes are obviously going to change, but I would like to rebuild something as unique as the Silver Sands was.

I am asking for three things: #1..help for the staff #2..rebuilding of the hotel and #3..ideas for a quaint concept that would incorporate everything you loved about the hotel.

If you could open your hearts to help it will NEVER be forgotten and hopefully we will have a drink at the new Silver Sands together….and build new memories.

On a side note from me, Dawn, you can see the big heart Andrea has by asking you, our guest, to help design the new Silver Sands. She has never asked for anything in her life. I hope we have a good outcome of love. THANKS!
