Hi, my name is Silas Feeback and I will be marching with the 2023 Music City Drum & Bugle Corp.

I started playing trumpet in Bourbon County Middle School when I was in 6th grade and I was not a good student. My band director has reminded me many times how he was often told "you should kick that kid out of the band", but for some reason, he stuck with me. I joined the marching band with Bourbon County High School in 8th grade and was immediately a changed kid. I loved everything about marching band: the repetition, the physicality, and even the heat and being yelled at!

My high school marching career ended this year and I was not anticipating the hole it left in me. I was completely devastated. So, I decided to audition for a drum corp. And I wasn't going to be shy about it, I was aiming for a WORLD-CLASS DRUM CORP! My first audition with Music City was in December. I was so nervous that I nearly bombed it, but they gave me a list of things to work on and asked me to come back in January.

I spent the next month working harder than I have ever worked and, when I returned in January, they offered me a contract to march with them! They even told me that I was the most improved of all the callbacks from December!

Then, I realized what that meant. We meet about once a month in Nashville for a weekend camp, then I will move in with the corps in June and start traveling the U.S. in July through August. That is an expense that neither me nor my parents knew to prepare for!

So, let's take a look at exactly what that comes to:

Music City Tuition:

$800 Deposit (paid)
$950 due by March 1 (Goal met & tuition paid through donations!)
$950 due by April 1
$950 due by May 1
$950 due by June 3

Total: $4,600

....and that doesn't count approximately:

1,000 hotel and expenses for parents for my weekend camps
$1,000 travel and ticket expenses for parents to see me on tour
$1,000+ for supplies I'll need on the road

It is a lot of money, but this is the ONLY chance I have to continue my love for the marching band at the competitive level I crave. Plus, I am the first Bourbon County student to sign a contract with a drum corp in years (no one can actually remember how long it has been) so there is no way I can let this opportunity pass me by.

My tour will start in Ohio on July 5th and take me through South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. The tuition includes 4 meals a day prepared by the Corp staff, all of my instruction, awesome uniforms and props for the show, a professional trumpet to use for the tour, and the experience of a lifetime.
