My friends, Sam and Sibongile "Bongi" Herring, need help.
Sam and Bongi are friends of The Pantry at our church. They have been married for 27 years and doing ministry together even longer. They met in Swaziland as missionaries. They've been back in the States for a while. Their son, Sammy, just graduated high school last year.
Sam is on disability. He has spinal stenosis and other chronic health issues that keep him from working. Just last week, Sam was in the hospital and had to have his gallbladder removed. Upon coming home from the hospital, he learned Bongi's job was in jeopardy.
Bongi works in security. Aside from Sam's disability check each month (which is not much), Bongi's job provides the family's sole income. She had been having trouble seeing, and it got to the point where it interfered with her ability to do her job. Her boss has put her on medical leave without pay.
Bongi went to the doctor and found out she needs to have cataract surgery in both eyes. She doesn't have insurance. The surgery costs $2,225 for each eye. She has to be able to see to keep her job. Until she has the surgery, she will not be able to work, which means she won't have income, which means it will be impossible to make rent, the car payment, and buy groceries.
In an act of faith, Bongi scheduled the cataract surgery for the first eye on November 16th.
Please help me raise money for Bongi's cataract surgery
so that she can see,
so she can work,
so her family can keep their house,
their car,
and their lives.
