On August 14th 2017, a mudslide killed more than 400 people in Sierra Leone's capital Freetown. One of the country's worst natural disasters killed 105 children among the 300 people who perished and 600 people still missing in Freetown.
Sierra Leone has gone through terrible things, a brutal 10 years war that killed over 50,000 peple and letf many homeless and then came the deadly Ebola virus in 2014 which killed over 4,000 people in Sierra Leone
As a club that has been working with deprived children in communities for over 5 years, we are raising funds to support Children affected by the flooding and mudslides.
ABOUT KENT CRICKET CLUB
Kent Cricket Club is based in Sierra Leone and was set up with the intention of using the game of cricket to give young people hope and focus, in overcoming the challenges they faced as a result of war and conflict. Since the creation of the KCC, they have achieved some amazing results, delivering some tremendous outcomes in their communities.
They are a respected community group that has established partnership with the Kent County Cricket Club in England, Twenty20 Community Cricket, Cage Cricket South East, Hellenic Cricket Federation, Cobham Avorians Cricket Club, and many more.
All donations collected will go directly for Food, Used Clothing, School materials and other basic needs of all kind for affected children, these items will then be forwarded to local NGOs and partnering organizations in Sierra Leone. As always, Kent Cricket club will ensure that everything is transparent and keep our donors updated with evidence of how the funds are used.
