We are looking for help to purchase a Big A$$ fan to help us keep our huge community sports facility cool. As you can imagine, the costs to cool a 21,000 square foot facility in the summer - in Central Texas, no less! - is quite high. Having large fans overhead would keep the air in the facility circulating and go even farther to help us cut our electricity costs in a big way. With lower costs we are able to in turn keep costs down for all of the organizations that call Rock Sports Arena home. As a non-profit organization, we'd much rather spend our money on youth programming (like a summer camp) and needed facility updates instead of sending it to a huge utility corporation. These large commercial fans are EXPENSIVE and every little bit helps. We have so many wonderful organizations in our Rock Sports Arena Family, if we all contribute a little we can cover the cost in no time! Thank you for your support!
The Rockin' City Rollergirls is a 501(c)(3) non-profit roller derby league located in Round Rock, Texas. We are a diverse group of women from all walks of life, and our organization is run by skater volunteers. We have an adult league catering to women 18 years and older and a juniors league catering to boys and girls ages 6-17. Our mission is to improve the lives of women and children in our area through a fun and healthy lifestyle.
Last year, we expanded that mission to include our entire community when we opened a first of its kind facility, Rock Sports Arena. RSA is a 21,000 square foot warehouse that houses a sports court rink for a multitude of sports, an elevated party/meeting deck, and an in-house gym and fitness facility. Hundreds of adults and children use the space weekly for their pursuits of health and wellness, whether it be through roller derby, various forms of hockey, volleyball, a safe space to host a birthday party or just hitting the treadmill. The Rockin' City Rollergirls are proud of our commitment to the community, and the response has been overwhelming.
At RSA, we are one big family, with everyone pitching in to keep the facility clean and maintained. Our community is hungry for a place where they can participate in their favorite sports and support one another through the special type of family camaraderie we have in place. It is a lot of work for a completely volunteer run, non-profit organization, but we are thrilled to see our vision being supported by so many community members.
Rockin' City Rollergirls is different from many other organizations for several reasons. First, we have zero paid staff - everything we do through our facility is done on a volunteer basis by both league members and our supporters. Many, many, MANY hours go into this facility, but we are happy and willing to do the work to see our dream become a reality.
Secondly, we are focused on an entire community of youth and adults who want to improve their lives through health and fitness. When we rent our facility to different sports teams and leagues, we give major discounts to the youth groups so that they can have a safe place to practice their chosen sports.
Lastly, we are just plain fun. Who wouldn't want to come to our facility and run on the treadmill while watching a hard-hitting (though family friendly) roller derby game? And then maybe participate in a dance party afterwards?
