Shrek Emergency Costume Drama Booster Fund

LHS ‘s production of Shrek the Musical is bogged down by some terrible news! After coming home from a magical week in Disney with many of this springs cast and crew members, Angela Smithhisler, the director at Linganore High School has been transported back into a reality straight out a nightmare. With only 10 days to go before the opening of the show there will be no costumes! The company that was used to rent the costumes has closed shop and the $8000 costume rental fee has disappeared with them! Smitty sent the following email just this evening: “This is going to be a painful bit of news to provide to our cast. Unfortunately, we have encountered a major issue with the company from whom we expected to rent costumes, and now the directors and other school officials are scrambling to remedy the problem and make replacement costumes available on short notice. We found out this weekend from this article about a high school in Pittsburgh that our very same costume company has decided unexpectedly to close up shop and take with them our $8,000-- with no costumes or puppets to deliver to us. It will require days of catch up work” This setback – in both money and time as well as morale and peace of mind – puts added pressure on the final week of what were supposed to be dress rehearsals. This issue has cost the drama program $8,000 that they will most likely never be able to recoup. So here we are, appealing to the community. If you feel that you can donate anything toward funding the replacement costumes, I know they would deeply appreciate your generosity.

In the event the funds are recovered, the donations will be used towards future drama booster production expenditures.
