ENGLISH:
Santos has been dealt a tough life—He injured his back at work 10 years ago, but was able to keep working. It got worse to the point of needing back surgery. Workers comp paid for the surgery, but said the statute of limitations had expired on giving him any money for time off work. The surgery didn’t go well, and Santos has gotten steadily worse—to the point of being unable to walk or even getting out of bed many days. He is in such excruciating pain that he literally can’t move until the following day. They are unable to pay their mortgage payment and are in danger of losing their house, along with being unable to pay other bills/expenses. The stress is too much for Santos to bear, which recently lead him to have a mild stroke, and was unable to see or walk for months.
All the while he is going through this, there is a smile on his face. He has come back in to his previous job and asked them if he they need a comedian or even bathroom cleaner to make any amount of money—he offered to make everyone laugh and help them have a better day at work. Santos doesn’t blame anyone and isn’t asking for anything except for a job; despite not being able to do so. But at times, you can see the toll this has taken on him already. He is one of the most kind, humble and caring people I’ve ever met. Even now, he’d give up the shirt off his back if anyone needed it. He doesn’t even know I’m doing this because he isn’t one to ask for this.
Santos was rejected from disability because workers comp said he can work . . . as long as he doesn’t bend, lift, sit too much or stand too much, and is flexible.(try finding a job like that…) So with his not being able to come to work many days and with him taking painkillers due to pain, work isn’t an option. I am trying to get this together because it is the right thing to try help Santos and his family. Santos has already been discarded by the system. We are trying to appeal to Social Security for his disability, but that will take months and Santos and his family could use any help as soon as possible.
Please do whatever you can. Please show up and show Santos that someone does care! Please make a donation to help Santos. He is an amazing role model for all of us that get angry and blame, rather than just putting a smile on your face and doing the best you possibly can. I made the goal $5,000 but anything we can get together will help them out a great deal. Thank you ahead of time!

Santos esta pasando por un tiempo difícil: se lastimó la espalda en el trabajo hace 10 años, pero pudo seguir trabajando. Empeoró hasta el punto de necesitar una cirugía de espalda. Compensación a los trabajadores pagó por la cirugía, pero dijo que el estatuto de limitaciones había expirado al darle dinero para ausentarse del trabajo. No le fue bien con la cirugía y Santos se puso peor, hasta el punto de no poder caminar o levantarse de la cama muchos días. Él está en un dolor tan insoportable que literalmente no puede moverse hasta el día siguiente. No pueden pagar el pago de su hipoteca y hasta corren el riesgo de perder su casa, además de no poder pagar otras facturas / gastos. El estrés es demasiado para Santos, que recientemente lo llevó a tener un derrame cerebral leve y no pudo ver o caminar por unos meses.
