Calvin Steves’ services with the Norman Transcript were terminated by the paper after 51 years. I believe Calvin is a great inspiration, and he certainly is a big inspiration in Norman, Oklahoma. Rather than rely on handouts, he has worked over five decades selling the paper on the streets and in some businesses in Norman. He is a great American story and an institution in Norman. If you have been in Norman for very long, you undoubtedly have encountered Calvin selling the newspapers. Calvin’s story is inspirational, powerful, and exhibits a work ethic rarely seen anymore. In addition, Calvin has a beautiful heart and helps support his family with the revenue from sold newspapers.

He now has been terminated by the Norman Transcript and he needs our help. We love Calvin in Norman…let’s show Calvin the deep positive feelings the Norman community has for him. His tenure with the Transcript has been for 51 years and he has no other viable vocation available to him after spending a lifetime of service to the Norman Transcript.
