Shipyard Bar Fire Recovery

Around 12:30am on Monday, May 15th, 2023, the exterior of the Shipyard Bar caught on fire. The bartender and patrons rushed to put out the fire but within a matter of seconds it rapidly spread up the building. Luckily, being so close to Engine 28, firefighters were on the scene within seconds, and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, sparing more damage and saving lives.

While the fire could have been much, much worse there is substantial fire damage to the outside of the bar, as well as smoke and water damage on the interior. This fundraiser is to help get our beloved bar back up and running as soon as possible, and to help with renovations to make the Shipyard better than ever!

The owner of the bar, Everett Cook, has spent so much time and energy over the past couple of years making the Shipyard a welcoming, fun, and enjoyable place to crack open a cold one after a long day of work, cheer on Philly sports teams with friends, play games, sing, and find community. If you've ever met Everett, you know he's a generous and hardworking pillar of the Port Richmond community. He's given so much to us all, and its time for us to share the love right back. Let's reach our goal of $10,000 and help reopen the Shipyard!!!

A little about me: My name is Lexi Ellis, I live on the same block as the Shipyard. I've been an enthusiastic patron of the Shipyard Bar for nearly two years now, and I'm very eager to see it reopened and restored. The money raised from this Fundraiser will go directly to the owner of the bar, Everett Cook, to be spent towards the insurance deductible.
